To our friends and collaborators --

I wanted to provide you with a brief update about the welfare of our animals and the state of the Primate Center campus after Hurricane Ida hit southern Louisiana last week.

Thanks to the exceptional effort and dedication of our round-the-clock animal care team, all of our animals have remained safe and healthy.

While our campus sustained some damage and temporarily operated on generator power, major debris has now been cleared and all laboratory and office power has been restored.

Although our campus currently remains closed to all but essential personnel, I anticipate that we will be fully operational in the very near future. You may check back here for updates as we move towards this goal.

I'm incredibly grateful to our employees for pulling together and getting us through this extraordinary event with inspiring dedication and resourcefulness, which has moved us into this recovery phase only a week after Hurricane Ida struck.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we continue to recover from this event.

Regards,

Jay Rappaport, PhD
Director and Chief Academic Officer of the Tulane National Primate Research Center
