Primary Research Interests
Dr. Bohm’s research interests are focused on the development, refinement, and characterization of nonhuman primate animal models and animal resources for biomedical research. This includes development and enhancement of infrastructure such as animal housing and use facilities and equipment, as well as, better characterizing and improving the health of nonhuman primates used in research. He has been the PI on a number of resource grants and had significant responsibility for ensuring that these and other animal facilities improvement projects were completed.
Dr. Bohm is currently PI on two NIH funded U42 SPF rhesus monkey colony development grants, Co-PI on a NIH funded R24 Primate Infectious Disease Resource grant to characterize the rhesus monkey gastrointestinal tract virome, PI of a Bill and Melinda Gates subcontract with the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center to develop monoclonal antibodies for HIV prevention, and PI of a NIH funded Simian Vaccine Evaluation Unit (SVEU) Task Order.
